Status and Objectives
What Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur (SIK)
looks like? Formally, The Department of Education and Culture of The
Republic of Indonesia give official recognition to the school. In the other hand, SIK identified by
the existence of its own visions, hopes, and objectives. While visually
SIK can be identified by its very own logo and vocally by the school song.
Status
In accordance of Surat Keputusan Bersama
Departemen Luar Negeri dan Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, no.
8724/67/01 and no. 068/1967 on 7th October 1967, which then updated for
Surat Keputusan Bersama Departemen Luar Negeri dan Departemen Pendidikan
dan Kebudayaan, no. 091/81/01 and no. 151/U/1981 on 22nd January 1981
concerning Pedoman Penyelenggaraan Sekolah Indonesia Luar Negeri, which
states about the status of SIK as follows :
- Indonesian Schools throughout the
world are open to all Indonesians at overseas, either for the child of
Embassies' employees or for other Indonesian community, in order to
develop and to spark the spirit of nationality.
- Indonesian Schools have the status
'semi-private'. (Means that we're private, but in some cases the
school helped by the government.)
- Indonesian Schools have the same degree
as common schools in Indonesia.
Objectives
SIK is an institution exists nowadays
as a center for educational and cultural developments for Indonesian
communities in Malaysia generally and in Kuala Lumpur especially.
SIK is hoping to be a prior and the best
center for educational developments and to spark the spirit of
nationality, especially to the Indonesian youth.
The objectives of the establishment of SIK
are :
- To shape a tough sacrifice to the Mighty
God, beside to keep and develop the spirit of nationality.
- To give science and technology
knowledge, beside to shape a good character and spark talents among
students.
- To motivate ability in sportsmanship,
arts, and culture, to strengthen international relationships.
